PROGRAM: Click! Filer 1.41
DESCRIPT: A Shareware File Utility or Replacement Shell for Program Manager.
Registration of the program is $20.00 US, Registered Users
receive the latest 'Registerd' Version of the Program. Registered
versions of Click! Filer alwaus contain additional features which
are not offered in the Network distributed .ZIP files. A printed
Manual is also provided to registered users.
CONTENTS: A quick manual for the program.
GENERAL OPERATION OF CLICK! FILER 1.41:
----------------------------------------
Click! always maintains 2 defined active directories or paths. These are
the SOURCE and the DESTINATION. Actions performed within Click! act upon
files in the SOURCE and place the results ( if any ) into the DEST.
Click! has 2 modes of display. Which may be selected using the Menu Selection
from the Defaults Menu, item Double Dir Lists.
1. The 'DoubleDirList', which shows the files within the SOURCE and the
DEST dirs in seperate side by side listboxes.
2. The Single Dir List, which show either the SOURCE or the DEST files
in a listbox at the bottom of the Click! Window.
DIRECTORY MOVEMENT:
-------------------
SOURCE or DEST Drive can be changed using the ComboLists provided. The
path which is used will be the last path DOS used for that drive. You can
also change drives through double clicks on the drive in the DirList box in
the upper right of the Click! Window. This will go to the drive but the
path will always be the root directory for that drive.
Paths can be changed by typing a new path into the Path Edit boxes. Paths
should begin with a '\', drives will be stripped form the path automatically
as will masks containning the wildcard * character. Once a path is entered
Press the TAB toindicate you have finished entry. Double clicking on a
diretory name in the DirListbox changes to that directory. The DirListBox
displays the directories within the SOURCE or the DEST, The Large Button
to the right of the listbox labeled 'Go Dst' or 'Go Src; changes between the
two active paths.
ALTERNATIVE DIRECTORY CHANGES:
------------------------------
As in earlier versions of Click!, The '>' button places the Source Path
into the Dest Path, The '<' is the inverse of the previous. And the '<>'
button swaps Dst for Src and Src for Dst.
NEW IN 1.40........ Pressing the '+' button to the right of a Path Edit
will enter that path into the 'Path History List'. Pressing the '?' button
to the right of a Path Edit calls the Path History Dialog. This dialog
provides a list of Paths. Double Clicking one places that Drive and Path
into the Current Drive and Path. This Path History can be Edited by selecting
Defaults... Edit Path. You can add paths and delete paths form the current
Path History List. You can also Load and Save Path Histories. This is a
convenient way to set up for special projects. Optimizing the lists to match
the directories you use most under certain circumstances.
FILE LIST BOXES
----------------
The Single File List Box lists the current ( SRC or DST ) files complete
with their Size, Attributes and TimeDate Stamp. Using the Display Menu,
Item Double FIle List, you can have the File Listboxes of the DoubleDirList
show either of Size, Attributes, or TimeDate Stamp. Irregardles of what is
shown you can sort that list by Name, Extension, Size or Time of creation.
Using the Mask Edits you can enter a DOS wildcard to reduce the file listing
to only those files which match the WildCard Mask.
Selection...... The filelistboxes are Standard Windows Extended Select
FileListboxes. You can Drag select, use CNTRL and mouse to select multiple
non contiguous files or de-select a file.
Mask Path.... just like the Path Mask. '+' adds to the current list, '?'
calls a dialog to get a new mask. They can be edited, loaded and saved.
SELECTED BYTE AND FREE BYTE INDICATORS
--------------------------------------------
SELECTED IS Space used by the selected files. FREE ALWAYS indicates the
space free on the DEST DRIVE.
CLOCK.... Press it and get Date, Press again it returns or wait a minute
and the time reappears. Updates are always on Minute intervals.
FILE ASSOCIATION AND DOUBLE CLICKS
----------------------------------
You an define the response of double clicking on files in the file list
boxes. Using the MENU DEFAULTS... Item Double CLicks you can build a
response list based upon extensions. What file should be run to load the
file in question. Always enter extensions including the period. To program
files without an extension use just the period '.'.
You can Load and Save these association lists just like the Path and Mask
Histories.
CUSTOM BUTTON PANEL:
--------------------
Previous Click! FIlers had panels of 12 buttons at the bottom of the window.
These have been replaced with a single 'Custom' button which will call the
Custom Butotn Panel. This panel can be 1x12, 2x6, 3x4 or 4x3 buttons on the
panel. It floats and when you save the buttons you also save the current
Window position. Subequent running of Click will bring the window up where
you want it. After running a file the window disappears. You can have the
window always visible but this may be an irritant.
Buttons can be programmed by selecting Menu Defaults Item Edit Custom Buttons.
This dialog provides the means to switch between each panel of 12 buttons and
to program each button. Programming a button is comprised of th steps:
1. Select Radio Button for the button to program
2. Name the button with the Label Edit
3. Enter name of file into Exec Edit or pres the Exec Button to Browse
for the file.
4. Press the Arg button to get the Argument Type.
NONE = just run the Exec File
SOURCE = Load selected files in Src List into Exec File
DIALOG= Present a dialog to allow user extension or edit of Cmdline
to send to Exec File
FIXED= Run Exec File with a fixed set of Arguments as indicted
in the edit box below the ARG button
CLICK APP = Special category of Windows Executable. This App
Is designed to use the Click FIler SRC and DST Paths
and highlighted files in file list. Generally these
programs will provide front ends for popular DOS based
applications for example PKZIP.
5. Press SET button. The Label to the current radio butotn should now
match the value in Label Edit. For the duration of this session we can
remember this button. After repeating this proces for other buttons
SAVE the file so that the definitions can be restored when desired.
Past versions of Click! called front ends for several Compression programs.
This now can be an extensible list using Click Apps. Currently Only the
PKZip and PKUnZip ClickApps are available. Others will follow.
NOTE# ClickApps for PKZip, PKUnZip, LHARC, PKXARC will be provided for 1.41
Future Click! Apps for ARJ, ALCHEMY and others will require a
Registered copy of Click! Filer to run.
CLICK AS SHELL
---------------
By replacing the line shell=progman.exe in the system.ini file with
shell=click.exe, Click FIler will act as the Windows Shell.
CONFIG FILES IN CLICK
----------------------
Config Files in Click are always restricted to a Subdirectory CLKCFG which
Click Creates in the Directory form which it is run. These files are much
faster that INI files. The main config file for Click is named 'default.clk'.
While you can save other .CLK files, only default.CLK will be read
automatically upon startup.
Other Files and their extensions:
.CPH = Path History File
.CMH = Mask History File
.AFL = Associated File List for Double Click Responses
.CBN = Custom Buttons and their Panels
The ClickApps save their configurations in file CLKPKZ.CFG and CLKPKUZ.CFG
Registered User will have additional files
